Mark               Cuban               is               up               to               his               old               tricks               again.

Every               time               it               seems               Mark               Cuban               has               been               quiet               for               a               while               he               suddenly               pops               up               again.

This               time               it               has               nothing               to               do               with               Dairy               Queen,               chalupas,               referees,               the               Dallas               Mavericks               or               basketball               of               any               kind.

Mark               Cuban               wants               to               start               a               new               football               league.

I               know               the               initial               reaction               to               this               news               will               be,               "remember               the               XFL?"               Yes,               I               remember               the               XFL               and               it               was               an               abomination.

Mark               Cuban               might               actually               make               it               work               though.

Cuban's               reason               for               starting               a               new               football               league               is               that               there               is               still               a               bigger               demand               for               football               than               the               NFL               is               supplying.

It's               true,               if               there               was               even               more               football               on               television               people               would               watch               it.

It's               just               important               that               it               is               done               right               and               Mark               Cuban               can.
First               of               all               this               is               Mark               Cuban,               not               Vince               McMahon.

Vince               McMahon               is               a               great               businessman               but               doesn't               know               squat               about               sports.

Mark               Cuban               not               only               knows               sports               but               he               turned               a               completely               dead               franchise               into               a               67               -               15               team.
Second               Mark               Cuban               has               some               good               ideas.

Mark               Cuban               says               that               they               will               go               after               players               that               would               be               picked               after               the               Second               Round               of               the               NFL               Draft.

So               players               will               actually               get               first               round               money               for               going               to               Cuban's               league               and               only               third               round               money               or               less               for               going               to               the               NFL.

It               is               also               likely               if               a               player               goes               to               Cuban's               league               he               will               definitely               make               the               team               but               third               round               picks               and               later               don't               always               make               their               NFL               team.

So               players               will               have               to               decide               what               is               more               important:               making               more               money               and               being               guaranteed               a               spot               on               a               team               or               possibly               playing               in               the               NFL?

Cuban's               league               wouldn't               get               a               Reggie               Bush               or               Vince               Young               but               there               is               good               talent               after               the               second               round.

We               can't               go               ten               minutes               without               the               NFL               reminding               us               that               Tom               Brady               wasn't               drafted               until               the               sixth               round.
I'm               sure               one               question               is               would               Cuban's               league               offer               more               money               for               a               first               round               player               in               their               league               than               a               third               round               pick               in               the               NFL.

This               is               Mark               Cuban               we're               talking               about.

Mark               Cuban               doesn't               do               anything               small.

I'm               sure               if               Mark               Cuban               is               involved               we               are               talking               about               a               big               league               with               a               big               budget.
Cuban's               league               would               also               play               its               games               on               Fridays               so               it               wouldn't               compete               with               the               NFL.

The               NFL               has               never               aired               games               on               Friday               nights               because               of               high               school               football               but               I'm               sure               there               are               still               enough               viewers               to               watch               professional               football               on               Fridays.
Obviously               Cuban's               league               would               be               stupid               to               go               head               to               head               against               the               NFL               and               try               and               win.

No               league               is               going               to               beat               the               NFL.

That               was               the               problem,               or               one               of               the               many               problems               with               the               XFL.

Cuban's               league               could               succeed               if               they               are               willing               to               coincide               with               the               NFL               or               be               an               alternative               to               the               NFL.
