About 'listen to the cleveland browns online'-The Jim Brown Effect
Welcome to the NFL picks that have been underestimating the Minnesota Vikings since week one of the season. This is Zac's Backs. Mediocrity, thy name is me. Another blah week of 10-6 makes my NFL picks good but not great yet again. I blame my dumb faith in Cincinnati and Detroit as well as crappy officiating in Arizona. Winslow was pushed out and you all know it. With all of that said, we are rapidly approaching the end of yet another NFL season which, of course, means the playoff race is in full force. There are some very important games being played this week so, without further ado, here are my NFL picks. Chicago at Washington (Thursday night) I made my feelings about this game being played in an article you can read by going here. As for evaluating this game purely on the game itself, both teams are coming off of very difficult losses at home. I'm actually still a little shocked that the Bears allowed my New York Giants to win that game. I'm actually not too surprised, however, that the Redskins lost against the Bills (even if it was under very odd circumstances). Neither team can afford to lose this game, as a loss for either Chicago or Washington would almost certainly eliminate that team from the playoffs. With both teams demoralized, I'm going to go with the home team here. I think the Redskins will be at least slightly more emotionally ready for football this week. By the way, for those of you who don't have NFL Network, check out the game by watching it online for free. Find out how to do so by clicking here. Winner: Washington Miami at Buffalo I can't say it enough. I'm so rooting for Miami to go winless. To me, this is a far more interesting story than New England's quest for an undefeated season. Sure, it helps the Browns for Buffalo to lose. Still, how can you not love the intrigue that can be found in suckiness of this magnitude? Winner: Buffalo St. Louis at Cincinnati Most people couldn't care less about this game. I'm definitely in the group. Cincy plays decent enough at home to squeak this game out. Not that it matters. Winner: Cincinnati Dallas at Detroit My faith in Detroit is completely dashed. Seriously, does anybody else believe in this team? I don't even think people in Michigan believe the Lions will be in the playoffs this season. The Cowboys are without question the best team in the NFC and their offense should roll all over the Lions. Winner: Dallas Oakland at Green Bay I hate you, Oakland. I really do. The Raiders in fact proved to be that team that refuses to win unless I pick against them. Well, I'm doing it again. The Packers will be rested and playing in front of one of the crowds in the NFL. Make me proud, Brett. Winner: Green Bay San Diego at Tennessee Many will look at this match-up with the mindset that both teams equally need a win. That's just not the case. The Chargers are going to have to try very hard to lose their division, while the Titans desperately need to win at least three games (at least) to make the playoffs. I think LT is remembering who he is and that he needs to carry my fantasy football team to a league championship, so go with the Chargers. Winner: San Diego super Chargers New York football Giants at Philadelphia I never doubted Eli Manning. Not for one minute. Meanwhile, back to reality, the Giants need to prove to the NFC and themselves that they can actually be a dangerous team in the playoffs. I'm going to continue to go against Philadelphia until the Eagles prove that they can actually close out a game. Winner: New York football Giants Carolina at Jacksonville Carolina beat up on San Francisco last week. Big deal. Jacksonville couldn't defeat the Colts, which came as no surprise to this guy. You can't tell me that you were that impressed with Carolina, just like you can't tell me that you were actually disappointed with the Jags last week. This game is going to go exactly as it should and Jacksonville should win by two scores. Winner: Jacksonville Tampa Bay at Houston Houston is possibly the AFC version of the Detroit Lions. They need to find a way to stop the slide but, in reality, it's far too late. The Bucs have an excellent defense and should be able to keep the Texans in check enough to win. Winner: Tampa Bay Minnesota at San Francisco I admit it. I was wrong about Minnesota. I hope you're happy, Brian. The Vikings are on fire and, with Peterson (apparently) at 100 percent, have quite the potent offense considering that they have no passing game whatsoever. The 49ers are a mess right now and may very well not win another game all season. New England just gets all the breaks. Winner: Minnesota Arizona at Seattle Arizona is not as rough as San Francisco but it's very close. Seattle may be nothing too special but, unless the Cardinals magically get incredibly healthy in six days, the Seahawks should have an easy go at it this Sunday. Winner: Seattle Kansas City at Denver Denver completely killed any chance of making the playoffs by not showing up last week. Kansas City has been guilty of that for weeks, now. In another too little, too late situation, the Broncos come out with a win. Winner: Denver Pittsburgh at New England Listen here, faithful readers. Pittsburgh is not going to beat the Patriots. They have no chance of doing so. They don't match up against them and they're playing on the road without the help of the crowd. If you Steeler fans want me to begin taking this team seriously, they had better show me something this week. Otherwise, I'm going to continue to be unimpressed. Winner: New England Cleveland at New York J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets This game is made better by the fact that I'll actually be at the Meadowlands. After Cleveland's "defeat" in Arizona last week, the Browns definitely have something to prove in this game. This is the time for the Browns to prove that they are legitimate. If the Browns lose this game they can kiss the playoffs goodbye. The Jets will have to do more than beat up on the Dolphins to make me be too worried about them, but this is still the Browns. Needless to say, I'll be nervously watching this one in the stands. Winner: Cleveland Indianapolis at Baltimore Dear NFL and NBC, Stop giving us crappy games on Sunday nights. Thanks, The Fans. The Ravens had their most difficult loss of the season when they choked away yet another game, this time against the (unbeatable) Patriots. I have serious doubts about Baltimore's ability to muster up much of an effort against the Colts, even though they're playing in prime time on national television at home for the second straight week. It's also time for everybody to realize that the Colts are good. Shocking, I know. Winner: Indy New Orleans at Atlanta That noise you've heard the past couple of weeks is the entire nation jumping off the Saints' bandwagon. Who would have imagined before the entire Vick fiasco that this game would mean absolutely nothing at this point of the season? I see Atlanta playing for pride at the very least. Hopefully this is at least a good game on Monday night, although I guess I can't complain with the last couple of weeks. Winner: Atlanta That's all for me. As always, thanks for reading. Enjoy Varsity Inc. Zac's Week 13: 10-6 Zac's Overall Record: 123-68 |
