About 'hotels by cleveland browns stadium'-19th Event of 2013: Rock 'n Roll Cleveland Half Marathon
Cleveland, Ohio and its surrounding area has enough attractions that one could easily spend a week exploring all this great city has to offer. But a great three-day schedule can easily be developed for a couple or a family. Day One in Cleveland is a great time to see the city's best-known attraction as of late, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Located at 1100 Rock and Roll Blvd. along downtown Cleveland's waterfront, this awesome-looking building was opened in 1995. It is home to many historic artifacts from the early days of rock 'n roll, plus items on loan from some of today's top artists. The seven floors feature 25 separate exhibits, five movie theaters, and a number of interactive listening stations throughout 150,000 square feet of space. Recent exhibits include "From Asbury Park to the Promised Land: The Life and Music of Bruce Springsteen," "Live from Madison Square Garden: From the Lens of George Kalinsky," the 2009 Inductees exhibit, and the Michael Jackson memorial wall. There is also a cafe and gift shop located in the building. The website states that the average stay at the Museum is three to four hours, but with the number of exhibits and movies shown throughout the day, one could easily spend the whole day at the Museum. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is open seven days a week (closed Thanksgiving and Christmas) from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. except Wednesday - 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; from Memorial Day through Labor Day, hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. the rest of the week. 2009 admission is $22 for adults, $17 for seniors (65+), $13 for children 9 to 12, and children 8 and under are free with paid adult admission. Photography and video are not allowed in the Museum. You will want to relax in the evening after the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, because Day Two in the Cleveland, Ohio area features another hall of fame - the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Canton is a short drive (about 60 miles) south of Cleveland, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, located at 2121 George Halas Dr. NW, is a great way to continue a "best of" visit to the area. Opened in 1963, this Hall of Fame features 83,000 square feet of football memorabilia recognizing some of the greatest athletes to play the game. Exhibitions include the "Teams of the NFL," featuring today's 32 teams; the "Hall of Fame Gallery," featuring a bronze bust and memorabilia from each enshrinee; the "Pro Football Adventure Room," which looks at other leagues the have tried to compete against the NFL since 1920; and the "Super Bowl Room," recapping all Super Bowls played to date including Super Bowl rings and other pieces of memorabilia. 2009 admission rates for the Pro Football Hall of Fame are: $18 for adults, $12 for kids 6 to 14, $15 for seniors (62+), and kids 5 and under are free. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week (closed Christmas Day); summer hours from Memorial Day to Labor Day are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Through 2009, you can purchase a Hall Pass, which provides entrance into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame (can be used on the same day or different days). Prices are $36 for adults (ages 15 to 64), $28 for seniors (65+), and $22 for kids ages 9 to 14; Hall Passes can be purchased at the box office of either Hall. Each Hall also has their own list of preferred hotels, which feature discounted room and ticket packages; if you are interested, please consult the individual websites (profootballhof.com or rockhall.com) for a list of offers. Day Three is a great day to wind down from your Hall of Fame trips, and a cruise on the Nautica Queen is a great way to do just that. This cruise ship docks on the Cuyahoga River (1153 Main Ave. in Cleveland) and features lunch and dinner cruises Monday through Saturday, and a brunch cruise on Sunday. All cruises feature an unlimited buffet meal with coffee, tea, or iced tea, and musical entertainment from a band or DJ, and offers a great view of Cleveland Browns Stadium, the Great Lakes Science Center, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Prices for the cruise range from $28 to $53 (including tax and service charge) for adults and $17 to $27 for children 11 and under (2009 prices, subject to change). Lunch cruises run noon to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, and Sunset Dinner cruises run 7 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday; Sunday Brunch cruises run 1 to 3:30 p.m. Reservations are encouraged and can be made online (nauticaqueen.com) or by calling 216-696-8888 or toll free 800-837-0604. One warning about Cleveland: three days isn't enough for everything you'll want to do - you'll be back. sources: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, rockhall.com Pro Football Hall of Fame, profootballhof.com Nautica Queen, nauticaqueen.com |
