About 'baltimore browns football'-How Many Rushing Yards Did Jim Brown Have in the 1964 ...
You can't win a fantasy football championship without a solid quarterback. Here are my expert quarterback rankings for your 2008 fantasy football draft. 1. Tom Brady (New England Patriots) Brady is, hands down, the top quarterback. He threw for 50 touchdowns last year and he has one of the most dangerous receivers in Randy Moss. Wes Welker isn't too shabby, either. He won't throw for 50 touchdowns again, but he should flirt with at least 40 given the fact they love to pass so much. It doesn't hurt to have a quarterback on a team that likes to run up the score, either! You also have to love the fact that he never gets hurt, which is always comforting when selecting somebody at the top of your draft order. Oh, and he gets to play six of his games against the lowly Jets, Bills and Dolphins! 2. Tony Romo (Dallas Cowboys) He has yet to win a playoff game, but he has already proven that he is totally legitimate fantasy player. Romo threw 19 interceptions last season, but it should be noted that 8 of those came in 2 games. He never threw for more than 1 interception in any of the other regular season games. He threw for over 4,200 yards, with 36 touchdowns, which is extremely impressive for a guy who has been a starter for less than 2 years. This guy is growing at a rapid pace and he has the best receiver-tight end duo in the NFL with Terrell Owens and Jason Whitten. Plus, Patrick Crayton is a threat, as well. Crayton is out to make up for his costly drop against the Giants last year, which will only make Romo look better! 3. Peyton Manning (Indianapolis Colts) Normally, he'd be at #1, but with a shaky Marvin Harrison and an emerging star running back in Addai, I see the Colts as being a bit more conservative and relying more on the run than usual. He will still put up big numbers and will find Reggie Wayne in the end zone quite often, but I just can't put him ahead of Brady or Romo. 4. Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) Brees is a dangerous force to be reckoned to with. He threw 28 touchdown passes and over 4,400 yards, which is nearly unbelievable given the awful start he had to last season. In the first 4 games last season, he threw 9 interceptions and only 1 touchdown. You take out those first 4 games and you got yourself one of the top quarterbacks of the year! He plays on a fast paced offense with dangerous weapons like Marques Colston and Reggie Bush and he is still playing under one of the great offensive minds in the league, head coach Sean Payton. Keep this guy high on your board! 5. Matt Hasselbeck (Seattle Seahawks) Guys like Brady and Romo had such big years, that many people didn't realize that Hasselbeck had his career highs in passing with 3,966 yards and 28 touchdowns. Some people thought his numbers would go down when he lost his deep ball threat, Darrell Jackson, but he proved them all wrong. He never throws a lot of interceptions and he should be helped by a healthy and hungry Julius Jones, who should bring life back to their running game and keep defenses honest. In addition, Hasselbeck plays in a very weak division, so he should be a solid pick. 6. Ben Roethlisberger (Pittsburgh Steelers) Big Ben seems to look more and more comfortable every game he plays. He definitely made a lot of progress last season, as he didn't make nearly as many silly interceptions as he did two years ago - he threw for 23 interceptions 2 years ago, but threw only 11 interceptions last season. With Hines Ward and an improving Santonio Holmes, he will once again put up stellar numbers and will be a solid play every week. 7. Carson Palmer (Cincinnati Bengals) To say last year was disappointing would be an understatement. I just don't believe things can get any worse for this team. They can only improve from last year, and that's going to start with Carson. Chad Johnson is still a Bengal and T.J. Houshmandzadeh is probably the best #2 receiver out there. Carson won't be as productive as he was 2 years ago, but he won't be as awful as he was 1 year ago. Palmer still has a lot of fantasy value left in him. 8. David Garrard (Jacksonville Jaguars) Well, you're not going to have any thrilling 5-touchdown performances from this guy, but you're not going to have any 5-interception performances from this guy, either. Garrard is notorious for not creating turnovers - he only threw 3 interceptions in the regular season last year. Jerry Porter is finally out of Oakland and should help pad Garrard's passing numbers. Don't be afraid to pick this guy fairly early among quarterbacks. Some people are afraid to pick him because the Jags love to run so much. Well, Pittsburgh loves to run, too, but I don't see many people waiting too long to pick up Big Ben. 9. Derek Anderson (Cleveland Browns) Derek caught everybody by surprise last year, but the fairy tale will not continue. In fact, it already seemed to be ending by the end of last season. He threw for nearly 3,800 yards for the season, but he threw for less than 200 yards in 3 of his last 4 games. Braylon Edwards is brilliant and Kellen Winslow is a great connection at tight end, but I don't think their running game is going to help out Derek. Jamal Lewis only has so much left in him, which means Derek will be getting blitzed quite often. Despite the great performances from last season, Derek could be on a short leash if he has a rough start to the '08 season. They got some guy named Brady Quinn that is more than eager to try to take his place! 10. Philip Rivers (San Diego Chargers) His numbers weren't all that flashy last season, but it's hard not to pick a guy that plays on the same team as Antonio Gates, L.T., Chris Chambers and Vincent Jackson. Chambers is thrilled to be on a contender instead of the lowly Dolphins, so he'll do more than his part to help out Rivers. Rivers only threw 21 touchdowns last season, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him get around 30 this year. 11. Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) Brett Favre is basically out of the picture. It is now Aaron's time to shine. True, he has limited experience, but he has great talent around him in Greg Jennings, Donald Driver and Ryan Grant. He will definitely have his share of tough times, but don't treat him like he's new to the NFL. He's been around the league long enough to know how to handle himself. This isn't some rookie quarterback straight from college. With the weapons that he has it his disposal, Rodgers is definitely worthy of being ranked at #11. 12. Eli Manning (New York Giants) His numbers from last season aren't that appealing, as he threw 23 touchdowns and 20 interceptions; however, he only threw 3 interceptions in their last 5 regular season games and he was solid and efficient in the playoffs. He gained a lot of confidence in himself after the Super Bowl. He also gained a lot of respect from his receivers and fans, which should only make things easier for him. Plaxico Burress is always a deadly threat and Amani Toomer is always reliable. Plus, Kevin Boss is a promising tight end that could help Eli. Boss has big potential and could be a major reason why the Giants don't seem to care about Jeremy Shockey anymore. 13. Jay Cutler (Denver Broncos) Cutler will not give you many 300 yard games, but he is growing more and more consistent. Cutler had 9 games in which he had at least 30 passing attempts, which goes to show that Denver is not all about the running game. As an added bonus, Cutler gives you a little extra with his rushing ability. Cutler is no Michael Vick, but hey, he still rushed for over 200 yards last year. The only quarterbacks that rushed for more yards were Vince Young, Donovan McNabb and Tavaris Jackson. 14. Donovan McNabb (Philadelphia Eagles) If you're a gambler, then here you go! McNabb can't stay healthy, but some would say that just means that he is finally DUE for a healthy year. Well, I think that is wishful thinking. Health is not my only concern with him. Even when he was healthy, he was still inaccurate at times and his offensive line did a horrible job in protecting him. His receivers are still weak, too. Reggie Brown and Kevin Curtis are great #2 or #3 receivers, but neither one of them is anywhere close to being a #1 receiver. McNabb can only throw so many 5 yard passes to Brian Westbrook . . . I'd stay away from McNabb unless you're feeling really lucky. 15. Marc Bulger (St. Louis Rams) Bulger had an awesome year in 2006, but things quickly fell apart in 2007. He missed 4 games last year due to injury and he only threw 11 touchdowns, along with 15 interceptions. It's hard to imagine him having a worse season than last season, especially given the fact that he has Torry Holt to throw to, but I would still be cautious about picking him. This isn't the "Greatest Show on Turf" anymore. 16. Jon Kitna (Detroit Lions) He had a promising start last season, but reality set in quickly, as he only threw 10 touchdown passes in his final 12 games of the season. Those kinds of numbers will not get anybody to the fantasy football championship! Still though, with that being said, you can't ignore the dangerous receiving core that he has in Roy Williams, Calvin Johnson and Mike Furrey, so if you are one that waits until the last minute to pick a quarterback, then I would take a shot with him. Hopefully, you take a shot on somebody else, too, though! Unranked: Brett Favre Favre had an outstanding season last year, but he will most likely not be a Packer, which immediately puts a dagger in his value. He may find another team, but I seriously doubt that his new team will have the same caliber of weapons that he had in Green Bay. With the exception of the Arizona Cardinals, all of the teams that have talented offensive players already have a stable quarterback on their roster, so Favre will most likely end up on an ugly offensive team like Baltimore or Chicago. I would not draft Favre early. I think he would make a great backup, but you're rolling the dice if you think he is going to be a solid #1 quarterback for your team. * Statistics obtained from Yahoo!
